I recently acquired a pop-up that had the best features (two king sized beds, slide out dinette, toilet and shower!) but needed an update and remodel. So, I took on the project to transform it into something super cozy but inspired by the surrounding nature. These first two pictures are the before.

To start, the canvas has a green color. And my philosophy in remodel projects is to be inspired with what you have and let that be a guide to create the rest instead of working against it or paying a LOT of money out to replace big money updates. So I contemplated painting the cabinets, but again that’s a lot of money and a lot of work (with possible risk of lots of scuffing/scratching) when I can use the decor and other updates to make it all come together beautifully instead. I began hunting for the perfect shower curtains as my main inspiration that would tie in both the wood and the green canvas and I did just that! I found a curtain and curtain rings that I fell in love with and used that to inspire the rest of the colors with the rust colored bedding and terracotta pleather I used for the seat cushions. I did use two shower curtains and made snaps to connect because one would not completely wrap around the shower unit. We have a huge fabric surplus type of place fairly easy access so that’s where I went hunting for the pleather. I wanted something easy to wipe and not worry about accidents so much since we have kids and more than likely there would be some lake days and lots of dirt! I made an easy pattern that allowed me to just tuck in the ends and then nail heads for the back to secure to the boards overtop the original fabric since it was still in good shape. But if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, here is another pleather like option that works well too and is super easy to use! While I worked on that project at night, during the day I focused on cleaning and taking down all the valance and curtains. I salvaged and repurposed the slider tapes that the curtains were on and sewed them onto the new curtains after a good cleaning which saved me a lot of money there as well. One of the seat boxes was collapsed so I repaired that as well.

The next project was to decide about the countertops and I had gotten some contact paper but just wasn’t sold on it so I decided to try painting just the top instead and I really liked the result! I used several other shower curtains I cut down and cut in half for the bed areas and the rest of the curtains. I then repainted the table and legs for a cozier feel. The floors were from Habitat for Humanity but there was only enough of one color to do the main floor, so I used a little bit of another color for the dinette slide out and I really loved the contrast it gave! One was the stick on wood floor board pieces which was a breeze to work with and even cut. The other needed glue and that got quite messy and tricky, so I definitely recommend the stick on if at all possible! Finally, I found some great little decor pieces around the house that tied into the botanical, fox and nature theme I was setting with the inspiration shower curtain to complete the look including these cute kitchen towels! I also found some small, dimmable touch lamps with USB ports (these are the most similar) that are perfect when you are feeling your way at night and don’t want to lose plug-ins either. I also cut down an over the door shoe cubby so we could put our shoes in there instead of tracking inside or leaving outside with bugs. Above that, I placed some stick on mirror tiles. Now I am completely in love with it!

You can find all the products (or similar products) I used on this Amazon shopping list.

It’s such a unique pop-up to not have the dinette in front of the bed, I love the slide out for added space, the two king sized beds, and sitting area, bathroom and the extra bedding with the dinette as needed! It truly is special! The only downside is that we had some car issues come up that we are now selling this pop up fully furnished (asking $6800 firm) in order to pay for the car so I know another family will get the opportunity to enjoy making memories with their family! If you are interested in buying it, or have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Features:

  • 2 king beds
  • Separate shower
  • Separate toilet
  • AC and heat works great
  • Plumbing works
  • Gas stove works
  • Leak free
  • Canopy in great condition
  • Dinette makes a third bed
  • The refrigerator is the only thing that I have not spent a lot of time yet to get to work. It could be an easy fix, so I will be fiddling with the fuses and propane when I can get it hooked up again.
  • There are a couple small tears in one mesh window, but it doesn’t affect the canopy or cause any water to get in. It has been repaired to keep bugs from getting in when the clear window canvas is rolled down.
