Another birthday for the COVID chronicles! My plan was to always have it at the train depot in town that also has the perfect train museum set up, trains and splash pad…but well, everything is still closed! So we got to improvise and have it at our home again which was still quite enjoyable!

As always, I love working on crafting the little details and stamps give me such pure delight for some reason so once I started stamping the favor bags I couldn’t stop! The cups, napkins, and favor tags all got stamped and then I had to create my own stamp for the plates! All the little things just made it even more fun and made Alrich thrilled to find little hidden train things on everything! My husband’s old train toys from his childhood were pulled out including the motorized train for the kids to ride! My mother-in-law also had some old luggage I was so excited to use as well! This year Alrich helped me design his invitation, shirt and cake and then decided on the food menu. I love seeing how he comes alive when we start doing parties (I wonder where he gets that from)! As soon as his birthday week started, he wanted to know when I would decorate and when he could wear his 5 shirt! I now know that birthday parties must always include a HUGE number balloon, a handpainted birthday shirt, my favorite cookie lady’s incredible themed cookies and a birthday cake made by Mommy haha! I’m not the best with cakes so I find simple ways to make things look really good without all the massive amounts of time, and I was quite excited how this one turned out this year and clearly Alrich was too! Since we couldn’t have the party at the train depot, we just took pictures of him outside the depot to display and had various activities from decorating train cookies, painting wooden trains, playing with the train sets and then the motorized train of course. The finishing touch was the train favor bags filled with conductor hat, bandana and train whistle.

So even though our location was different, our crowd was much smaller, a storm was expected so we didn’t have the water activities, it was still a top favorite birthday and our little boy had such a blast celebrating his big #5 birthday!
