What a fun birthday for a wonderful little 4 year old boy! We built ships from pallets, made canons, enjoyed delicious cookies by Inga’s Custom Cookies from Laurens, SC, treasure cupcakes, pirate garb for the kids to wear, and so much more! Not only did the kids have a blast but the adults did too! Kids first had to muster onto their ship when they arrived by putting a mark on their name and receiving a black or red ship stamp to tell which ship they would be assigned. Then after a few pirate games of coconut bowling, put the patch on the pirate and Captain Hook’s ring toss, the mess call was sounded by Captain Erwin (on the boatswain’s whistle), and the birthday boy got to enjoy his #4 treasure cupcake followed by gift opening. But then came the real fun! All the crew boarded their assigned ships (Jolly Roger or The Flying Dutchman) under Captains Bell and Kehl who helped them find a clue that would lead each ship to their own treasure map. Once they found the treasure map, they found a piece missing and another riddle to find the missing part of the map. That rest of the map together showed where x marked the spot for them to dig up their treasure (which held their party favors of kinetic sand, gold coins and a compass). But…they did not want the other ship to steal their gold so the ships dueled with explosive canon fire (black water balloons) and pistol fights (water guns) until there was a draw. Since both ships were worthy pirate ships, all of the crew were forced to “walk the plank” (where the kids thoroughly enjoyed splashing and throwing more water balloons in and out of Davy Jones’ Locker where the great white shark lurked). The children loved all their pirate booty from inflatable swords, water gun pistols, red bandanas, telescopes, gold chains (party beads), eye patches and of course the favors that were found in their treasure chest. It was quite an event and filled with so much laughter! Arrrrr you ready for ye own pirate party Matey??

As a side note, I always knew if we had a boy I wanted to do a pirate party and a spy party at some point so I’m thrilled we got to do one so far!
