One of my closest friends is expecting her first baby and so it was the greatest honor to be able to throw her a shower! She loves stars and you can always hear her exclaiming “Oh my stars!” but she also loves fall so we combined the two for her baby shower! The goal was to make it feel like a fall starry night that cast a moonlit glow over the fall landscape. We made homemade soaps for favors, my mom and I painted watercolor galaxy pictures with scriptures, made jars with “fireflies”, and wrapped spoons with veined leaves. I had quite a bit of an experience cutting logs off our fallen trees from a storm a few months back, oh the fun! And of course, a fall shower isn’t complete without soup and some fall desserts with homemade chocolate leaves! We also had a few fun activities including diaper dooty messages and “How Do You Doo?” (Hollywood Game Night) using nursery songs of course! The finale was to gather very special influences in the mom and dad to be’s lives and have them surround them for a prayer time. Different ones were given cards to pray specifically over, for instance “Shoulders of the dad: for strength to bear the weight of the household; Back: strong back for disciplining in love and playing” etc. These times of prayer at baby showers are probably my absolute favorite!
