I love when my kids get to an age they get involved in planning their party details! This party was that for our middle son! He loves planes and flying just like I do, so when he asked for an airplane birthday party I was thrilled! He helped design his invitation to the specific colors and shades and I honestly was very impressed!
Our local small airport was so gracious to allow us to use a hanger for the party at no charge and even allowed us to keep an airplane in there when we asked and the pilot was available during the party. To top it off, our dear friends who also have a small plane, made a grand entrance and took a few families up for a short flight! It was truly magical and special for our little boy!
Sweet Anomaly’s took the invitation and my son’s ideas and made the most beautiful cookies as usual! My cake looked great with the cotton candy clouds…for a few short minutes but the moisture in the air that day shrunk them soooooo fast! Sprinkle Strega also took our color scheme and theme and made the perfect custom sprinkle set and Patrick was in awe! I had a great deal on Zazzle that I used to make the napkins and used the same template to make other signs for the party like the “Baggage Claim” and some scriptures. The favors were little luggage bags with a puff of dye free, organic sugar, and real flavored cotton candy in a bag, flight wings (like the kind kids used to get back in the day when you flew an airplane and were “good.” We had found the bag via second hand), and a handmade luggage tag.
We kept the foods to snacks that you might could find on a plane as “in flight snacks”, cookies, ice cream and cupcakes. The cupcake toppers I made and cut out except for the airplanes that I got here. We also had a paper plane making station and some targets to try and ring that I made by hand as well as some rubber band type shooting planes. I used an airplane stamp like this one for each of the plates. Finally, the backdrop can also be found here.
Patrick absolutely loved everything about the party he designed and was so proud of what he accomplished! He used everything he learned the following year when he designed his pet birthday! I love this creative little boy of ours!
